I'm sharing this beautiful motherhood session because I really believe we have to celebrate all the mamas that are willing to step in front of the camera, forget about any insecurities, and capture their intimate connection with their little loves. This mama really wanted to tell the story of the innocence of childhood before her girls grow up, and I think the magical light we used and giving the girls plenty of time and space for free play in the grass and willows allowed us to do just that.
I am so excited for this to be the Motherhood Sessions Event month! We mothers are often the ones behind the camera, and we often get uncomfortable being IN pictures. But these images of us being with our babies and big kids are so important. The kids only see the woman who makes every day brighter, not the extra 5-10 pounds we'd rather not be carrying, our tired eyes, or any of the other features that we stress about daily.
I had 2 slots open for my motherhood sessions on April 29th and I would love to capture your love through my candid, relaxed portraits with your littles.
This beautiful testimony about her session was written by my client: such a sweet mama. Balancing a LOT- her family, her own successful business, children's activities... you know it all too well. Big plans, lots of mishaps for this shoot, but we ended up with MAGIC. Did they see it at the time? Nope. stressed we didn't get any good shots. You can't even imagine the beautiful gallery we created from this session. Just goes to show, your family is so beautiful even amidst the chaos. Relax and trust me to capture that for you :)
If only you could have been a fly on the wall (er, in the air) these past 24 hours. Our family photo shoot that I mentioned was happening this week? Did you see the gorgeous sunset God gifted the world last night for a beautiful family photo session? You didn't? Well guess what, NEITHER DID WE! This Mama had it in the family's calendar this entire. time. for the WRONG DATE. And here I thought I was so on top of my game having our clothes finalized and laid out days before. 🙈 Come to find out it was supposed to be LAST night. Not tonight. Sooooo in the wee morning hours today my clan made our way to a last minute sunrise session. As in, 7:45AM. And naturally we were running late. I had BIG plans in my head of how this year's photoshoot was going to pan out. Kids frolicking through the meadow while my husband and I toasted with our Moscow mule copper mugs of warm cocoa. 😂 Kids were tired and cold and as soon as our youngest started warming up, our oldest fell of his dad's shoulders and smacked his head on the ground. My gorgeous lace Lucy kept getting caught in the meadow's thorns. Ladies, it was one thing after another like out of a movie. The one consistent thing throughout it all? Our amazing photographer AnneMarie Hamant who was SO patient, gracious and beyond accommodating to this crazy, scattered-brained mom who botched the whole thing up in the first place. Here is a quick picture I snapped when we got home from all of the chaos. It is my precious Hadley donning remnants of her morning's outfit that included a pair of cozy LuLaRoe leggings, a pair of mismatched socks her Daddy dressed her in for the session and stayed on the entire time (Men!) AND you may note the new, shorter 'do which is the result of an impromptu hair cutting date she and her sweet cousin decided to have last weekend. Sigh. I share all this and show this sweet picture that makes me smile, because it is a reminder to me of the sweetness and beauty amongst chaos. Oh how far from perfect things panned out. And our Christmas Card will likely show a child with exhausted tears in her eyes and a dirty "Lovie" clutched in her paw, chocolate chunks in the teeth of another (from the doughnuts we were using as "rewards"), a son with a pounding headache, a husband stressed that he is beyond late for work, and a mom who is frazzled and desperate for ONE GOOD SHOT. Praise God for grace. Perfection is so boring, isn't it? It's all about making the best of these crazy moments. And striving to do so with a little bit of style and grace.
I received such a lovely review from the B Family after our session last week at this beautiful location in Montgomery County, PA. I had so much fun playing with their one and three-year old boys in the golden light of this late-September day.
It is our favorite time of year, and our fall family traditions include apple picking on the weekend of my husband's birthday. We've been going as a family since our oldest was just 3 weeks old!
This year we checked out a small mom and pop farm in Coopersburg called Hamilton Orchard. They have a lot of varieties and we even were able to pick the last of summer's peaches.
These two sweeties steal my heart every time I get to photograph them. Maybe it's Sam's spunk that reminds me of my Josephine, and Jackson's sense of adventure that reminds me of my own boys his age. Maybe it's the way they squeeze each other tight, or giggle as they tell me about their favorite ice cream flavor (they both like chocolate). We had scheduled this session a few weeks back, but the day we met up Sam wasn't feeling herself- a little virus was brewing and we just knew we'd better call it off and reschedule. I'm so glad we did because these smiles are irreplaceable!
Earlier this month I held my first mini sessions devoted entirely to motherhood at the beautiful Fox and Finch Studio in Bethlehem, PA. The moments we captured of these beautiful mamas and their little ones make me so incredibly happy. Just taking 20 minutes or so to love on your baby, cuddle them, sing to them, nurse them, and focus on that mother/baby bond, was so very beautiful.
From my own experience, I am personally rarely in any pictures with my own three little ones, and I can tell you it would be a treasure for my kids to have images of me with them. Many of us mothers never feel worthy to be in pictures, so we want sessions to focus on the kids. We still carry that post-baby pouch (in my case, a 2 year post-partum pouch!), we wish we fit into those pre-pregnancy jeans better, maybe we haven't done our hair or makeup in a while.... but our kids don't see any of those self-determined "imperfections." They just know us and love us as we are. We are moms- we are comfort, peace, joy, solace to our little ones. Just as each of our children is perfect to us, we are just right to them, just as we are.
Even the busiest toddler boy will sit in his mama's lap and listen to her sing, listen to her tell him a story about the day he was born, play "This Little Piggy," or "Patty Cake". They crave our attention all day long, so when we sit down with the intention of giving them our all for a short while, they really do eat it up- I promise.
I adore these images and can't wait to create more portraits of motherhood. If you live in the Lehigh Valley or Bucks County area, please consider booking a session to capture your intimate bond with your children. I will be offering motherhood sessions all summer long- bring on the fields and flowers and frolicking at sundown!
One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is when I get to develop long-lasting relationships with my clients. I am delighted to be offering lifestyle milestone baby portrait sessions in the Lehigh Valley and Bucks County, PA. I met Grant this Fall when he was 6-months old and it was so fun to see him again this weekend. SO much change in just 3 months! He is crawling, babbling, holding himself up and taking steps while assisted by mom and dad. I also adore his nursery with a woodland animal theme. Love this family's style!
Here are a few favorites from Grant's 9-month old milestone session. I can't wait to see him again this summer to celebrate his first birthday!

I am so excited to offer these Motherhood Mini Sessions in Bethlehem, PA! I have been dreaming them up for a few months now as I have been longing to capture more intimate and emotive images of mothers and their little ones. While I usually shoot outdoors or in client's homes, I fell in love with the Fox and Finch natural-light studio. It is in an old textile factory and I love the rustic feel inside, it is abounding with northern exposure light, and we have their amazing selection of vintage furniture at our disposal.
These sessions are meant to be candid, classic, and simple. Picture yourself snuggled up on a vintage setee with your babes as I capture your hands linked, your noses nuzzled, their little heads resting on your chest. I can't wait to bring this vision to life for mothers in our area! Perfect opportunity for capturing breastfeeding babies, or even babywearing or maternity portraits.
To book your session just contact me through the CONTACT tab above and I will get you a contract and invoice right away!
