Her expressions never fail me.
We took a little road trip today and had some fun hiking and exploring. Gathering treasures of tiny shells, fossils, driftwood, and just climbing around nature's jungle gym made for the perfect homeschooling morning after our bookwork was finished. I can't wait to get back here for a sunset family session!
I am currently booking Spring and Summer Child and Family sessions. Please contact me if you would love for me to capture your children at play and are interested in getting on my calendar.
We are all feeling a little cooped up with the winter right about now, so even though I am longing to shoot outdoors and in beautiful dreamy backlit fields, this season forces me to turn inward, shoot in less-than-perfect locations and light, accept some grain and high ISOs, and find new nooks of light in my home. We're hanging in there!
If you love my work and would like your family story documented as art, please contact me to schedule an in-home storytelling session. I'd love to find the light and capture the love in your home.
We've made it a week into this year's 365 project! It's that time of year for lots of shadows and isolated indoor light. I'm hoping we get some more snow soon so we can really get out and play! This week I challenged myself to get IN the frame and start practicing self-portraits. It is HARD. Harder than I ever imagined. Now I know how all my mom clients feel when they see themselves in pictures. Even the most beautiful mamas are critical of themselves. It is so hard to see ourselves despite the million selfies people take daily. Anyways, I'll be playing around more with self-portraiture in our daily life here and there. Here are a few peeks a our week. It's kind of a fun change (and challenge!) to return to documenting my family life after such a busy fall season of client work.
Josephine has been loving the extra attention and treats from Grammy during our visit. My mom has been keeping her out of trouble (mostly) by involving her in the cooking and cleaning the past few days. I just knew when she looked at my mom with this smile that it was THE moment of the day.
And here are a few more from this mini-story.
I am committed to completing another 365 project this year and will continue to approach it without stressing about shooting and sharing daily. But I will start this year off with this image- to remind me of the road ahead. I can't wait to look back at the end of this new year and see what we've experienced together as a family and the images I've created.
