My second photo session while home in NY was for my dear friends Nicole and Tim. They had sweet little K in April, and we were able to capture he beautiful smile at 3 months. She is a strong baby girl, and has quite a personality!

I just LOVE her eyes. What a knock-out this little lady is going to be! Watch out John Patrick! My 10 month old would fall over for her

I have been home in Rochester, NY for my summer vacation, spending some quality time with my family. While I was home, a few of my old friends asked me to do family portrait sessions. Of course I was excited when I got to photograph the beautiful K Family. Jill and Keith are amazing, strong parents, committed to their faith and the challenges of parenting their three adorable children. The boys were hard to keep still for a photo, and kept me on my toes, but sweet E is totally at that girly age where she just loves to be photographed. Thanks to the whole family for their patience in hiking all around Rochester’s Highland Park for these images.

I photographed this little doll when she was just a week old, and I just can’t believe she has just celebrated her one-year birthday! I know from my own experience with my little guy how quickly the first year flies! Little T just keeps getting cuter and cuter. Must be why my little John Patrick keep making flirty eyes at her, and tries to hug and kiss her incessantly. I don’t blame him!

G and A Engagment Session

There is nothing like an engagement session to remind you of those feelings of excitement and anticipation of a life spent well together when we initiate our marriages. G and A so clearly adore each other, and take joy in the other’s presence. It was rejuvenating to spend time with them at Dumbarton oaks a few weeks back. Yes, I am behind on my blogging. Family has taken reign this year with the birth of John Patrick, and I am longing for summer break from my full-time job so I can dedicate even more time to my photography passion!

Thank you two for spending one of your last afternoons together with me! I know the long-distance engagement is hard! I can’t wait to photograph your wedding this summer!

Warning-there are a lot of them kissing. I encouraged, and they willing followed Not a bad way to spend an afternoon with the one you love. If you know of someone recently engaged, spend them my way for a fun way to celebrate their engagement!

C Family Session!

It had been a while since I had done a shoot with a toddler. I forgot how much running it involves on my part, and inevitably, lots of shots from behind of the little one running. Ah, the independence walking gives! Little R was relishing in her independence, and of course, she just looked adorable. I feel so thrilled to have been able to do a portrait session for the C Family again! I just love repeat clients, since I get to see how the kids grow and change over the year. Thank you all for such a fun night up in the Kentlands!

Aren’t these girls just gorgeous? I could have done an entire shoot just of them! Awesome personalities too! As a high school teacher, I can very easily tell when a kid is just an all around great person. These two fit the bill for sure.

These beautiful twins were up visiting from West Virginia. They live on a cattle ranch! I just think that is so cool. I adore these cowgirl boots- wish I had a pair!

I just love this shot- the girls have such different styles, but seem to totally love bing with each other. I love twins!

Awaiting Baby!

My dear friends Bennett and Virginia are awaiting the birth of their first baby in April. I wanted to make sure to capture this special time for them. We photographed Virginia when she was about 32 weeks, a great time to shoot pregnant bellies before the swelling and “I feel gigantic” emotions set in. Since I was pregnant not too long ago myself, I just find pregnancy to be such a beautiful time in a woman’s life, and I love photographing the joy shared between husband and wife as they await this miracle they have created. Maternity is to be celebrated, and it all begins even before the birth of the baby. Pregnancy is really a time to celebrate the woman beholding this child within, as once the babe is born, we all know who becomes the star of the show! 9Just peek at my personal baby blog to see what I mean!).

Virginia is particularly radiant, and the excitement is clear between her and her hubby. I cant wait to meet Baby Benginia as I fondly call their little one!

Little Miss S

She is the most darling almost- 2 year old I know! So quiet and sweet, pensive and articulate. Totally different from my wound-up little 6 1/2 month old boy!! We did this shoot way back in November at the National Botanic Gardens, and I just stumbled across these and wanted to make sure to share. It is a great place to take your little ones for an outing- there is a fabulous children’s garden where they can play, and of course, it makes for a great place to photograph the little ones at play.

I just love this last one of the little lady with her daddy… so cute- as we were walking to the car, the sky just opened up and let in the most amazing diffuse light over the Capitol. So beautiful!

Since my beautiful John Patrick was born in September, I have been doing fewer jobs and focusing on family time. We have really enjoyed our first 5 months together! Just so you don’t think I have packed up the camera, given that my professional blog is so dead these days, I am actually shooting more than ever, just more at home of my sweetie pie! I love having a smiling subject to photograph every day! And, I am even more inspired to do newborn and baby portrait sessions! Senior Portraits {Chloe}

I know it seems this blog is dead, and honestly, since my dear little John Patrick was born, it has been! But I am still doing jobs even with my little man taking up a large portion of my free time. I just don’t seem to find the time to blog about any of them! But this shoot was so much fun I have to post a few pics. Chloe was such a good sport doing some outdoor portraits in the 30 degree, blustery, January weather! I just adore shooting seniors! They are just naturals in front of the camera, and can tell you exactly what they like in an image. Maybe it’s because I am a high school teacher, but I really really love working with seniors. I hope you had as much fun as I did Chloe, and you are just beautiful! Such a radiant smile! And, thanks to her good friend who braved the weather to offer some wardrobe and moral support
