Holiday Mini Sessions- Little Miss O.

Posted on November 8, 2011

I first photographed little O when she was just a tiny tot. I cannot believe she is now so grown up and already a kindergartner who loves Hannah Montana and likes to dance like a fairy! She is still precious as ever and once she warmed up to the camera her spunky personality shined bright. Dad- sorry you weren’t feeling well for this shoot and had to miss it, but we had fun just focusing on the little lady!

Holiday Mini Sessions- The M Family

Posted on November 7, 2011

This family was so much fun to photograph. I just loved the sibling affection so evident in every shot. I can’t wait for my boys to get to this stage where they are best buds. This brother and sister duo are so ridiculously cute! Great job Mom and Dad on creating such a strong family bond!

I am going to reiterate what I wrote in my previous post: Please please please, this holiday season, try to DO something in PRINT with your photos. Make them treasures your family looks at everyday, and will be displayed for future generations to enjoy. This session came out too good to just be on a Christmas card that unfortunately will get tossed after a few weeks.

Holiday Mini Sessions- The H Family.

Posted on November 6, 2011

It’s that time of year again! I can hardly believe it’s already time for Holiday sessions! After being pregnant all last winter, and having baby #2 this summer, I have been on a bit of a break from photography, but couldn’t resist the occasion to offer mini sessions again this year. It felt so good to get back into artistic work and create beautiful portraits for some of my favorite families! In reflecting after having my own family portraits taken a few weeks ago, I believe more and more in the importance of DOING something concrete with our family photos, rather than just collecting digital files on my hard drive. I personally plan on creating a wall display with an assortment of enlarged prints, framed in the very unique Organic Bloom anthropology-inspired hand painted frames. These frames are only available for purchase from local photographers, and I am so excited to introduce them to clients. This is the perfect time of year to make something beautiful with your images, so I encourage everyone to make a commitment to display and share your photos IN PRINT. Find novelty in the classic!!!

The H Family was my first shoot of the day, and they looked so fabulous. Mama H is particularly gifted in coordinating the most stylish outfits! Loved all the detailing and the prepster look :) I have so many favorites from this shoot… hard to choose just a few for the blog, but here we go!

Mommies’ Network Auction Winner!

Posted on November 20, 2010

The B family was the winner of this summer’s auction through the Mommies’ Online Network. They made the trek from Baltimore for our shoot! Such an adorable family and very full of affection. I love how big brother B so obviously loved his little sis! Thanks so much, B Family for our fun shoot last weekend! You have such a great family!2010_11_BAKER_-52010_11_BAKER_-82010_11_BAKER_-232010_11_BAKER_-262010_11_BAKER_-272010_11_BAKER_-282010_11_BAKER_-392010_11_BAKER_-542010_11_BAKER_-592010_11_BAKER_-562010_11_BAKER_-47

Fall Mini Sessions Sneak Peak- The D Family

Posted on November 12, 2010

untitled-521If you follow my blog, you will know that I am lucky enough to photograph this beautiful family frequently. Little F was so much fun last weekend, and really got into the portraits. She looked adorable as always, and made me laugh when instead of saying “cheese” to get her to smile, we just had to say “john patrick”, or “barcelona” or “italia”. She is geting so big! I just adore her red shoes. Maybe F will let me borrow them some day :) untitled-387

It’s shoots like these that make me LOVE family portraiture, and emphasize the big difference between a family on-location portrait session, and a Big-Box 4.99 portrait session. I was invited to follow the beautiful R family through an late summer evening of fun in Old Town. I have been wanting to shoot in Old Town for a while, so I was really excited when they said that was a special location to them. The kids fed the ducks, played on their tricycle, took a trolley ride, played near the fountains, climbed stairs, played with sticks and dirt, and had a fabulous time! This is what we mean by the term “lifestyle photography”- capturing moments as they happen, in your element, and without the stress of having to get the kids to stand a certain way and smile. The family is engaged in each other- and who wouldn’t want pictures of your 3 year old running to you for a hug, or your baby girl holding your hand for those early steps? I wish I had those kind of pictures of me as a child! The R family is just a joy to be around- glowing with genuine love and affection. They are headed back to the South where they are from in just a few days, and this was sort of a farewell to DC photo shoot. I am so glad we could squeeze this in before they leave! I will be sad to see them go, but excited for them to return to their family and roots in Texas!

Little mama is 2!

Posted on August 6, 2010

One of my very favorite little ladies to photograph is now 2!! She has grown so much, and really got into the photo shoot this year. When she was one it was all about chasing after her at the park, with lots of shots from behind. This year, we got some fabulous shots of her gorgeous smile that quite resembles her mama’s. She was so playful with her Grandma who was in town visiting, and got really adorable picking the daises and then stuffing them in her bloomers! I love those shots in particular- classic, childhood innocence. This is such a fun age!

I am now booking Fall portrait sessions, so if you would like to capture these fun candid moments in the comfort of your home or favorite park, please contact me soon to book a slot.

The K Family

Posted on July 23, 2010

I have been home in Rochester, NY for my summer vacation, spending some quality time with my family. While I was home, a few of my old friends asked me to do family portrait sessions. Of course I was excited when I got to photograph the beautiful K Family. Jill and Keith are amazing, strong parents, committed to their faith and the challenges of parenting their three adorable children. The boys were hard to keep still for a photo, and kept me on my toes, but sweet E is totally at that girly age where she just loves to be photographed. Thanks to the whole family for their patience in hiking all around Rochester’s Highland Park for these images. 2010_Karn-105-2

Mini Sessions {highlights}

Posted on November 6, 2009

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing four wonderful families for my holiday mini sessions. We had to change locations at last minute due to the rain, and we ended up at the beautiful National Botanic Gardens in downtown DC. I will be posting some highlights from the different shoots. Thanks to all my families for your flexibility and for a fun day of portraiture! SO many beautiful children in one day!! (Moms and Dads aren’t so shabby either!)2009_11_ConnorWeb-082009_11_ConnorWeb
