Holiday Mini Sessions- The H Family.
Posted on November 6, 2011
It’s that time of year again! I can hardly believe it’s already time for Holiday sessions! After being pregnant all last winter, and having baby #2 this summer, I have been on a bit of a break from photography, but couldn’t resist the occasion to offer mini sessions again this year. It felt so good to get back into artistic work and create beautiful portraits for some of my favorite families! In reflecting after having my own family portraits taken a few weeks ago, I believe more and more in the importance of DOING something concrete with our family photos, rather than just collecting digital files on my hard drive. I personally plan on creating a wall display with an assortment of enlarged prints, framed in the very unique Organic Bloom anthropology-inspired hand painted frames.These frames are only available for purchase from local photographers, and I am so excited to introduce them to clients. This is the perfect time of year to make something beautiful with your images, so I encourage everyone to make a commitment to display and share your photos IN PRINT. Find novelty in the classic!!!
The H Family was my first shoot of the day, and they looked so fabulous. Mama H is particularly gifted in coordinating the most stylish outfits! Loved all the detailing and the prepster look
I have so many favorites from this shoot… hard to choose just a few for the blog, but here we go!

This mama and tot are just too cute!

Gotta take time for a kiss

An evening with the R Family in Old Town Alexandria
Posted on August 19, 2010
It’s shoots like these that make me LOVE family portraiture, and emphasize the big difference between a family on-location portrait session, and a Big-Box 4.99 portrait session. I was invited to follow the beautiful R family through an late summer evening of fun in Old Town. I have been wanting to shoot in Old Town for a while, so I was really excited when they said that was a special location to them. The kids fed the ducks, played on their tricycle, took a trolley ride, played near the fountains, climbed stairs, played with sticks and dirt, and had a fabulous time! This is what we mean by the term “lifestyle photography”- capturing moments as they happen, in your element, and without the stress of having to get the kids to stand a certain way and smile. The family is engaged in each other- and who wouldn’t want pictures of your 3 year old running to you for a hug, or your baby girl holding your hand for those early steps? I wish I had those kind of pictures of me as a child! The R family is just a joy to be around- glowing with genuine love and affection. They are headed back to the South where they are from in just a few days, and this was sort of a farewell to DC photo shoot. I am so glad we could squeeze this in before they leave! I will be sad to see them go, but excited for them to return to their family and roots in Texas!

Baby K
Posted on July 23, 2010
My second photo session while home in NY was for my dear friends Nicole and Tim. They had sweet little K in April, and we were able to capture he beautiful smile at 3 months. She is a strong baby girl, and has quite a personality!
I just LOVE her eyes. What a knock-out this little lady is going to be! Watch out John Patrick! My 10 month old would fall over for her ![]()

Have you checked out my personal baby blog?

Since my beautiful John Patrick was born in September, I have been doing fewer jobs and focusing on family time. We have really enjoyed our first 5 months together! Just so you don’t think I have packed up the camera, given that my professional blog is so dead these days, I am actually shooting more than ever, just more at home of my sweetie pie! I love having a smiling subject to photograph every day! And, I am even more inspired to do newborn and baby portrait sessions! This is a wonderful gift for anyone you know who is expecting, or has recently had a baby. Hop on over to my personal blog and see my most recent work (and of course, to peak at my little man!) If you’d like to book a family on-location session, please contact me- I am taking new clients!

Mini Sessions {highlights}
Posted on November 6, 2009
Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing four wonderful families for my holiday mini sessions. We had to change locations at last minute due to the rain, and we ended up at the beautiful National Botanic Gardens in downtown DC. I will be posting some highlights from the different shoots. Thanks to all my families for your flexibility and for a fun day of portraiture! SO many beautiful children in one day!! (Moms and Dads aren’t so shabby either!)
